A huge reason to why I started blogging and reviewing skincare products was that throughout my childhood, my eczema constantly affected the way I portrayed myself. Due to my skin condition, I had rashes wrapping around my back to my stomach. If left untreated or itched, my rashes would spread to my arms and face. I felt self-conscious about my skin and wanted to hide myself from public view; however, being fully clothed was not practical during humid, dry, or hot seasons. To attempt my own care, I started to research the causes and symptoms of eczema. I learned how to improve my skin, while also gaining an interest in medical and cosmetic fields. Having eczema is an emotional roller-coaster, in that I never know when I might have a good day or a bad one with the severity of my rashes. By learning more about my condition, I am able to control the effects of eczema and be more comfortable in my own skin.
During the first two years of high school I was infatuated with journalism and cosmetics, my goals ranged from being the next Vogue editor to the next Youtube sensation. However, after watching documentaries about what happens during the creation of various skin care products and the various people leading the development of these products, I changed my idea of what I wanted to do with my life. Seeing how I could protect my skin from further damage fascinated me and I took the initiative to research more about my eczema. I learned more about the dermatologists and specialists who created the products that I used to relieve my own pain and saw how each specialists made sure that they knew and understood their consumer’s symptoms and unique skin types. I aspire to become a consultant for skincare and a Physician's Assistant specializing in cosmetic dermatology. A huge dream of mine is to create a skin care line that is suitable for all skin types and skin conditions. If I’m able to help at least one person be comfortable with their skin and live the life that they desire, I would be satisfied with my work. I take pride in protecting my skin from harm and it is my intention to help others do the same. I want to change people’s lives by fixing what they deem as their faults and allow them to feel comfortable in their own skins. The thought of being able to support and to provide people with the courage to venture into the world feeling confident about themselves, has motivated me to pursue a career in medicinal research. My interest in learning more about an issue that restrained me from being confident about myself contributes to my pursuing of a career in research and medicine. My experience with eczema and the effect it had on my self-confidence has motivated me to find a way to ensure that others will not have to encounter the same difficulties.
Thanks for reading this blog post and I hope you have an amazing day!
